"State religion" er skilgreint svona á Wikipedia síðunni:

A state religion (also called an official religion, established church or state church) is a religious body or creed officially endorsed by the state.

Maður veltir því fyrir sér afhverju það sé jafnvel minnst á þetta. Heldur fólk að fjöldi ríkja virki sem réttlæting?

Ríkiskirkjan hefur í raun bara tvennskonar rök. Hefðarrök (þetta hefur alltaf verið svona) og meirihlutarök (það eru allir að gera þetta).

Annað ekki.

Alltaf skal þetta lið vera jafnóheiðarlegt.

Skv. myndinni þá eru það þrjú lönd í Evrópu (fyrir utan Ísland) sem eru með þjóðkirkju/trú, Danmörk, Grikkland og England (ekki Wales og Skotland) en hversu mörg eru með ákvæði um þjóðkirkju í stjórnarskrá sinni? Nú veit ég að England er ekki með stjórnarskrá, þannig að við getum sleppt því. Danmörk er með mjög sambærilega stjórnarskrá og okkar, þannig að ég býst við að þar sé ákvæði í stjórnarskrá. En, hvað með Grikkland?

Samkvæmt Wikipedia er kirkjan í stjórnarskránni í Grikklandi.

Among religions in Greece, the largest denomination is the Greek Orthodox Church and Christianity, which represents the majority of the population[3] and which is constitutionally recognised as the "prevailing religion" of Greece (making it one of the few European countries with a state religion).

Article 3

1. The prevailing religion in Greece is that of the Eastern Orthodox Church of Christ. The Orthodox Church of Greece, acknowledging our Lord Jesus Christ as its head, is inseparably united in doctrine with the Great Church of Christ in Constantinople and with every other Church of Christ of the same doctrine, observing unwaveringly, as they do, the holy apostolic and syn- odal canons and sacred traditions. It is autocephalous and is administered by the Holy Synod of serving Bishops and the Permanent Holy Synod originating thereof and assembled as specified by the Statutory Charter of the Church in compliance with the provisions of the Patriarchal Tome of June 29, 1850 and the Synodal Act of September 4, 1928.

2. The ecclesiastical regime existing in certain districts of the State shall not be deemed contrary to the provisions of the preceding paragraph.

3. The text of the Holy Scripture shall be maintained unaltered. Official translation of the text into any other form of language, without prior sanction by the Autocephalous Church of Greece and the Great Church of Christ in Constantinople, is prohibited.
